Making sure your voice is heard in planning matters.....
Four years ago the CCCP felt that with so much potential development in the City Centre it was essential that developers should start to discuss their detailed plans with the community long before their formal application was submitted to the City Council planning department, at the time this seemed a pipe dream. Three years on.....we are now consulted regularly about the detail of plans and all of our members are given the opportunity to comment. On numerous occasions our views are heard and changes made.
New Language Immersion Centre, Commercial Road - Cotswold Archaeology have finished the clearance and the building contractor (Carters) is on site. The target date for the first intake of students is January 2012.
Quays - City Centre Linkages - nearly there! - whilst this project has caused considerable disruption in the Docks / Kimbrose Triangle / Southgate Street area the results will be worth the wait. If you want to be kept up to date with the scheme and the various road closures etc let us know.
One key feature of the Kimbrose Triangle section of this work will be two major public art pieces - a tower and wall. The installation of the artwork has been the subject of numerous delays and is now due to be installed in April 2011.
Of course things don’t end there! We monitor all planning applications submitted for developments in the CCCP area - see the list at the top of this page. Any comments we receive are passed onto the Planning Department. We also have members who attend City Planning meetings to see how things turn out – see Council Matters for dates of meetings.
As it says at the top of this page planning is the key to the life of the City.
